Hello, I am Jane Savill and I am a stoneware specialist and fire all work in a large gas kiln; therefore work will be fired to a high stoneware temperature making it exceptionally strong and frost proof, great for outdoors as well as being oven proof, and microwavable.
I am an experienced teacher with years of A level Art and Ceramics under my belt. In 1998 we moved from London with our large family to Lymington and a year later my studio was ready for weekly pottery classes – today I have twenty-four students coming each week.
I have run workshops in nearly every local school, team building workshops for local businesses, birthday party’s and Hen Do workshops, have taken workshops into hotels and alfresco in the forest. I have demonstrated my craft at festivals and fun days. I have continued to make and exhibit my own work throughout my career.
I graduated with degree in Ceramics from the West Surry College of Art and Design (now the University for the creative Arts, Farnham.) and gained my post certificate in Education from London University in the early 80’s.
The light and airy pottery workshop is adjacent to the house and set in 5 acres of land just to the north of Lymington on the New Forest National Park boarder. The workshop has been designed for teaching, it’s very well equipped for making every kind of craft ceramics, with electric wheels, whirlers, moulds a large variety tools for making and decorating.
